Edmund Shaheen

Ed Shaheen studied and lived in a Franciscan monastery for six years before pursuing pre-medical studies at Loyola University of Los Angeles. He received his M.D. from Tulane University in New Orleans and completed his residency in Family Practice at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles. He also trained at both Charity Hospital in New Orleans and USC-LA County General Hospital, and has worked as a family physician with a personal patient load of 2500 to 3000 patients for more than 30 years. During this time he has also taught medical students from UCLA and family practice residents in the clinic and at bedside. He has additional experience in the emergency room, urgent care and hospital care settings and is certified in both the American Board of Family Medicine and American Board of Medical Acupuncture. Dr. Shaheen is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine, for which he has been successfully re-certified six times (1978-2019). He has over thirty years experience as a Family Medicine physician with a very large practice (2500-3000 patients). His experience also includes: general mid-wife training in obstetrics and office gynecology, emergency room care, acute non-urgent care, pediatric care, geriatric care, hospital care, office dermatology and minor surgery. He is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Medical Acupuncture (2001-2012). Dr. Shaheen was the Secretary and co-founder of the California branch of the Academy of Medical Acupuncture (2004-2006), and a consultant to the California Board of Medical Examiners.
