June 2012, YSU instructor and Tai Chi master, Ming Dong Li Ph.D., L.Ac. attended the International Chinese Martial Arts Championship in Denver CO and won five gold medals, two silver medals and the coveted "Grand Champion, Denver 2012" trophy.
The five gold medals include: 1. Chen style, adult, advanced men; 2. Yang style, adult, advanced men; 3. Other style, adult, advanced men; 4. Straight sword, adult, advanced men; 5. Other weapons, adult, advanced men.
The two silver medals are: 1. Taiji 24-form, adult, advanced men; 2. Taiji 32 straight sword (Yang style), adult, advanced men.
This is very exciting but it is nothing new to Dr. Li. He was a proud recipient of four Gold Medals of Tai Chi competition at the UC Berkeley 15th Annual Chinese Martial Arts Tournament in 2007. That same year he also won first place in Tai Chi at San Diego's International Martial Arts Competition. In 2008 he won a Gold Medal at the Disneyland Martial Arts Festival.
Altogether has won 26 gold medals in national and international Tai Chi competitions.
Way to go Dr. Li!
