Yo San Faculty

These extraordinary teachers and practitioners have chosen Yo San—and Yo San has chosen them—because they have a talent and a passion for teaching TCM students, combined with a sophisticated command of their disciplines. Several instructors studied, taught and practiced at some of China’s top TCM Universities; some come from distinguished families of Chinese practitioners; and others trained at American TCM and Western Medical Schools.



Virginia Prior, L.Ac., DAOM
Program: DAOM

Dr. Prior is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine specialized in Reproductive Medicine / Women's Health from Yo San University. She is licensed by the California Acupuncture Board & NCCAOM, and is also ABORM certified.

Meredith Chun-yi


Meredith Chun-yi Qian, L.Ac. B. Med., M.Med.

Dr. Meredith Chunyi Qian is a California licensed Acupuncturist who received her M.D. degree in 1983 in China. She then also earned her Master Degree of Acupuncture Science in 1986 at the distinguished China Academy of TCM at the Institute of Acupuncture in Beijing, China. 



Michael Redmond, RN., BA.
Program: MATCM

Mr. Redmond is presently a S.I.C.U. nurse at Santa Monica Hospital and a senior faculty member. He has a wide range of clinical experience including trauma, intensive care, anesthesia, and home health.



Robin Roberts, L.Ac., DAOM
Program: DAOM

Dr. Markus is the Founder and Clinical Director of Nourishing Life, a fertility and longevity institute. Dr. Markus, a leading infertility expert, lectures at medical colleges and at specialty conferences around the world.



Larry Ryan, Ph.D.
Program: DAOM

Larry Ryan is a licensed California psychologist with an extensive background in Higher Education. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at John Carroll University, his Masters degree at East Carolina University, and his Ph.D. degree at The University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada



Edmund Shaheen, M.D.

Ed Shaheen studied and lived in a Franciscan monastery for six years before pursuing pre-medical studies at Loyola University of Los Angeles. He received his M.D. from Tulane University in New Orleans and completed his residency in Family Practice at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles.



Cynthia Splies, L.Ac., DAOM
Program: DAOM

Dr. Splies has been practicing Chinese Medicine since 2004.  She received her doctorate from Yo San University in 2011, masters in TCM from Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine in 2003 and bachelors in environmental studies from California State University, Hayward in 1998. 



Edward Sullivan,
Program: MATCM

Ed Sullivan has practiced massage therapy for over twenty years and has many years of experience teaching energy movement. He is certified in several Ni family forms, including Eight Treasures, Self-Healing Qigong, and Taoist Meditation.

Pam Tarlow, Pharm.D
Program: DAOM

Pam Tarlow has been a licensed community pharmacist since 1981, when she received her Pharm.D. from the University of Southern California (USC). For over 17 years she has specialized in integrative pharmacy, helping customers and professionals effectively use natural products, integrated therapies, and pharmaceuticals for prevention and health care concerns.



Carla Vidor, L.Ac., DAOM
Program: DAOM

Dr. Vidor graduated from Barnard College, NY with a bachelor's in Environmental Science. She earned her Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) with a specialty degree in Reproductive Health from Yo San University.



David Wells, D.C., L.Ac.
Program: DAOM

Dr. David Wells has been in practice since 1979. In addition to his doctorate in chiropractic and 3 years training in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, Dr. Wells has a BA, a BS, an M.A. in psychology and an M.S. in Nutrition. Dr. Wells also has post-graduate training in radiology, Applied Kinesiology, McKenzie rehabilitation exercise, etc.



Hua-Bing Wen, B. Med., MS, L.Ac.

Dr. Hua-bing Wen, B. Med., MS, L.Ac. brings his expertise in the field of medicine to Los Angeles while coming from a long line of rigorous schooling in China. Dr. Wen began his studies at the age of sixteen with a deep thirst for knowledge and problem-solving that has followed him throughout his career.



Denise Wiesner, BS, MTOM, ABORM
Program: DAOM

Denise Wiesner is a well received specialist in Women's Health and infertility.



Nurit Winkler, MD
Program: DAOM

Dr. Winkler is Board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She completed her residency at Brown University School of Medicine where she earned multiple teaching and research awards.

Joseph Chang Qing


Joseph Chang Qing Yang, L.Ac., Ph.D.
Program: MATCM

Dr. Yang was a faculty member and a medical doctor in Traditional Chinese Medicine University of Heilongjiang, Harbin, China. After his 5 years bachelor education He finished his 3 more years master degree in TCM diagnosis and 4 years Ph. D. degree in psychiatry and neuroscience.

Qi Wei


Qi Wei Zheng, L.Ac., MD (China)

Dr. Qiwei Zheng is a California licensed Acupuncturist who earned his MD degree in 1976 in China. He then received his Master's Degree of Acupuncture Science in 1981 at the prestigious China Academy of TCM, Institute of Acupuncture in Beijing, China.
