Brian Acacio, MD, F.A.C.O.G.

Dr. Brian Acacio is board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility as well as in Obstetrics and Gynecology. A graduate of UC Irvine, Dr. Acacio received his medical education at George Washington University School of Medicine, and trained as a resident and fellow at USC. He is a Fellow at American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Los Angeles Obstetrical and Gynecological Society and a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Pacific Coast OB/GYN Society, Pacific Coast Reproductive Society, and the Society for Gynecologic Investigation. As assistant clinical professor at USC and Loma Linda University, he has been actively involved in teaching and training other physicians over the years. He has also been teaching the OB/GYN resident physicians at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield for the past 8 years. Dr. Acacio is active in research and has over 30 publications and lectures in nationally recognized peer review journals and conferences. He has been featured in interviews on National Public Radio and KCAL 9 News. Dr. Acacio has earned medical staff privileges at some of the leading hospitals throughout southern California.

 

Anna Brantman, DAOM, L.Ac.

Dr. Brantman earned her medical degree in Moscow, Russia at the State Medical University in 1989. While in Russia she also completed a fellowship in Acupuncture. Dr. Brantman earned both her Master’s degree and doctoral degree in Oriental Medicine at Emperor’s College, and has extensive experience as a teacher. She has also worked for many years in integrated settings and has acupuncture practices associated with Cedars-Sinai Health Center and has clinically supervised acupuncture interns at Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. Brantman will be teaching the Nutrition and Functional Medicine course.

 

Paul Campbell, DOM, Ph. D.

Paul Campbell is a successful practitioner (Santa Monica, CA) and researcher with over twenty years experience in TCM practice. He is a lifelong learner with numerous certificates of advanced study. Paul has a background in fertility practice and research, and has broadened his practice to include a wide range of patients with focus on both functional medicine and functional neurology. These emphases will add to Paul’s teaching content, as will his diverse professional history and published articles. The course that Paul teaches in Yo San’s DAOM program will focus on the integration of the body of current peer reviewed literature that pertains to TCM/Fertility issues.

 

Margo DeLeaver, MD, FAAP, MA Spiritual Psychology

Pediatrician and Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatricians, Dr.DeLeaver earned her MD degree from the School of Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is an integrative medical practitioner who provides patient consultations and faculty services at several sites in the Los Angeles area. Dr. Deleaver sees patients at Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, Cedars Sinai, Brotman and Daniel Freeman hospitals. She is also a clinical instructor at UCLA. Dr. DeLeaver was recently chosen for service on the Yo San University Board of Directors.

 

Brandon Horn, PhD, JD, L.Ac.

Dr. Horn is a lecturer, researcher and clinician in the fields of acupuncture, herbal medicine and nutrition. He received his Bachelor and Juris Doctorate degrees from Ohio State University. His Master’s degree was earned at Samra University and his PhD in Classical Chinese Medicine is from the American University of Complimentary Medicine. His dissertation topic was the derivation of classic five element theory using principles of quantum physics. Brandon is one of the ECCM practitioners at the forefront of acupuncture research in infertility. He currently practices and teaches in Los Angeles where he is on faculty at UCLA Medical Center.

 

Gary D. Hubert, M.D.

Dr. Gary Hubert is board certified in reproductive endocrinology and obstetrics and gynecology. He serves as co-director for Fertility and Surgical Associates of California, consultant reproductive endocrinologist for the Los Angeles Zoo and clinical assistant professor in Reproductive Medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine. A graduate of UCLA School of Medicine, Dr. Hubert has lectured and published extensively on infertility and other reproductive disorders. Since 1983, Dr. Hubert has developed experience in infertility diagnosis and treatment, and completed his fellowship under the direction of Dr. John Buster, the first physician to achieve a non-surgical egg donation pregnancy. Dr. Hubert has lectured at many national institutions on new advances in reproductive technology and laser laparoscopy techniques for treating pelvic endometriosis and tubal disease. An active member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology, and the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists, he has been honored on several occasions by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the media for his outstanding contributions to infertility diagnosis and treatment.

 

Ashim Verma Kumar, M.D.

Ashim Kumar, M.D. is well versed in all aspects of reproductive medicine. He has a special interest in hormonal and functional causes of infertility, and is Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Kumar completed his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility from the combined program at University of California Los Angeles and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center working with world-renowned leaders in the field. He completed his medical education and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals on endocrine and surgical aspects of infertility and has presented his work at the annual meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. He serves as an ad hoc reviewer for the journal Fertility and Sterility. Dr. Kumar has written several textbook chapters on management of tubal factor infertility and ovarian function.

 

Don Lee LAc, QME, DNBAO, CSCS MTOM

Don Lee is Director of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine at Synergy Performance Health in Woodland Hills. Don Lee earned his Master’s degree at Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine and his BS at California State University at Northridge. A diplomate of the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics, Don specializes in diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. He integrates acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine with Western physical medicine and mind-body therapies, emphasizing pain management, nutrition, endocrinology and exercise. Don has also served as director of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Services at the Center for Health Enhancement at St. John's Health Center. He has taught in both the Master’s and Doctoral program at Emperor’s College and is currently on the Board of Trustees at Yo San.

 

Ming-dong Li, BMed, MMed (China), PhD (China), LAc

Dr. Li received his PhD from Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China, major in Chinese Internal Medicine. Dr. Li specializes in pain management and sports injuries. He has over 22 years of clinical experience and over 16 years of teaching experience. Currently, he is part of a clinical research study of Tai Chi and Qi Gong on tension headache at the Center of East-West Medicine in UCLA. In addition to his accomplishment in the medical field, Dr. Li has won numerous awards in Tai Chi Chuan competitions in the U.S. Recent publication include: Depression, A journal of Acupuncture Sciences 122, 2001, California, U.S.A.

 

Anna Lin, L.Ac., DOM

Anna Lin is a Licensed Acupuncturist who has taught Chinese medicine, acupuncture and herbology at several Los Angeles area oriental medicine colleges.She has authored 'The Tao of Longevity' and 'Urology and Male Sexual Dysfunction' published by Blue Poppy press. She has a Bachelor's degree n TCM from Guangzhou TCM College in China and a Master's degree from Emperor's College.She has owned and operated a Chinese medical clinic since 1983.

 

Dr. Paul C. Magarelli, M.D., Ph.D., FACOG

Founder and Director of Reproductive Medicine and Fertility Centers in Colorado Springs and Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dr. Magarelli was trained as a Ph.D. Scientist with a specialty in Reproductive Biology and Nutritional Biochemistry. His career shifted when he realized his calling was to help people with their reproductive issues. He received his Medical Degree at the University of Arizona and his Residency training in Ob/Gyn at Duke University. He then trained at UCLA/Cedar’s Sinai’s prestigious Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility Fellowship. He is board certified in Ob/Gyn and subspecialty board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility and is Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Magarelli has presented and published ground breaking research in the area of integrating Eastern (Acupuncture) and Western medical treatments for infertility. Today, he continues to investigate the role of Traditional Chinese Medicine in treating IVF patients, thereby forging the way for the future of reproductive medicine. He is on the Advisory Board of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine, heads the Strategic Planning Committee for the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society, and is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technologies.

 

Chun Yi Qian, MD, LAc

Dr. Meredith Chunyi Qian is a California licensed Acupuncturist who received her M.D. degree in 1983 in China. She earned her Master Degree of Acupuncture Science in 1986 at the distinguished China Academy of TCM at the Institute of Acupuncture in Beijing, China. Dr. Qian has nearly 30 years experience in researching, practicing, and teaching Integrative Medicine, Acupuncture, and Chinese Herbology. Dr. Qian has been invited to give numerous lectures around the world in countries such as Italy, Israel, England, Jordan and the USA on the topics of Integrative Medicine, Acupuncture, & Herbology.

 

Zhou Yo Qiu, LAc. Post Doctoral Fellow in Cardiology.

Zhou Yo Qiu received his Post Doctoral Fellow in Cardiology from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas and his cardiology training at SunYat Sen (Guangzhou) Medical University, Guangzhou, China. He has written for many publications on the topics of cardiovascular disease and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

 

 

Robin Roberts, MSW, LCSW, PhD

Dr. Robin Roberts is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in west Los Angeles. She and her husband experienced infertility in the early 1990’s, before there was ICSI, PGD, and many of the other advances that are available to individuals and couples today. Though formally trained in psychotherapy, she has always focused on the imaginary line between the mind and the body, as medical care alone is insufficient for total healing. She moves between the levels of mind and body by bringing thoughts (mind), emotions and sensations (body) into awareness and into the dialogue between her and the patient. This facilitates patients in regaining a sense of wholeness, security, and receptivity that is lost in the recurring cycles of medical treatment in the drive to become pregnant.

 

Maureen H. Rozenn, LAc., DAOM, FABORM

Dr. Rozenn earned her Master’s and DAOM from Five Branches University with a specialty in Women’s Health and Pain Management. Her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a certificate in Women’s studies was earned at California State University at Humboldt. She is completing her PhD in Integrated Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine at Zhejiang University in China, and will be conducting research on acupuncture and fertility enhancement in conjunction with the Fertility Physicians of Northern California. She has written numerous articles Chinese medicine and is publishing her first book, Practical Fertility, this year. Her practice, located in downtown Santa Cruz specializes in Women’s Health, Family Medicine and Fertility Enhancement for men and women. Dr. Rozenn is a board certified specialist in Oriental Reproductive Medicine and will be teaching a number of the TCM Reproductive Medicine courses.

 

Greg Sperber, BMBS, MTOM, MBA, L.Ac., DAOM

Dr. Greg Sperber is author of Integrated Pharmacology, Combining Modern Pharmacology with Chinese Medicine published by Blue Poppy. He received a masters and doctor of acupuncture and Oriental medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego and a medical degree from Flinders University of South Australia, and a master of business administration from National University. Currently he is a professor and Director of Clinical Services and Clinical Chair at PCOM and the immediate past president of the California State Oriental Medical Association. He also speaks internationally about acupuncture business concerns and drug-herb interactions.

 

Robin Tiberi, MTOM, LAc., DAOM

Robin “Saraswati” Tiberi has been a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist since 1994, passionate in her expertise of fertility enhancement, natural family planning and hormonal balance. She received her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. She provides customized and comprehensive fertility training and consultation based on the Tao Te Ching, gently empowering clients to adopt unique and effective healing practices. Dr. Robin regularly presents on Chinese Medical Gynecology in the United States, Canada, Europe and the Middle East. With Alex Tiberi and Dr. Li Jie, she leads groups of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) students on annual Study with The Masters learning intensives in China. From 1996 to 2006, she directed the clinical affairs of the Pacific Center of Health (PCOH), where she discovered novel ways to manage menopausal transition. She is a lecturing member on the faculties of Qing Bai Academy of Chinese Medicine, The Netherlands, and the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, CA.

 

Hua-bing Wen, BMed, MS, LAc

Huabing Wen received his medical training at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Pharmacology, and also received a Master's Degree in Integrated Medicine from the same institution. He served as Physician-in-Charge in their Department of Internal Medicine from 1991-1993. He has been a faculty member of Yo San University since 1995 while maintaining a private practice in Los Angeles, specializing in internal medicine.

 

Wendy Yu, MSOM, LAc., FABORM

Wendy Yu is a lecturer, researcher and clinician in the fields of acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition and functional medicine. She received her Bachelor of Science in physiology from Rutgers University, Masters degree in Oriental Medicine from Samra University and is working on her PhD in Classical Chinese Medicine from the American University of Complementary Medicine. Wendy specializes in the fields of gynecology, reproductive medicine and pediatrics. She has publications in Fertility & Sterility, Alternative Therapies in Women's Health, and Evidence Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine. She lectures both in the United States and internationally on the treatment of infertility using acupuncture, herbal medicine and nutrition. Wendy was the first acupuncturist to be awarded hospital privileges at Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, and is a clinical professor at Yo-San University, where she helped set up an externship program with CHLA. Wendy is also on the advisory Board for the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine.
