A Baker's Dozen with Qi

The contest announcements used descriptors such as “Big and Fluffy,” “Golden and Brown” and “Delicious” to stimulate a band of Yo San bakers to present the best products of their mixing bowls and ovens at the contest on November 21, 2013.   At 3:00 pm On the day of the event the Bookstore was packed with “Yo Sanners” to view the six beautiful muffin treats and to greet the creators of the competing culinary treats.

There was a great deal of enthusiasm generated the minute that the Yo San University  (YSU) “Baking is an Art—Muffins Contest” was announced. A skillful panel of judges included, Dr. Lawrence Lau, MATCM Dean of Academic and Clinical Affairs, Shuilan May (YSU Bursar), Alison Doherty  (MATCM Assistant Academic Dean)  and Andrea Cabanayan, (Student Worker in the YSU Bookstore).   The task of the four judges was enormous as each of the entries provided a unique and delicious challenge to the palate. In the end the Judges agreed that the entry of third year Yo San Student, Kia Yang, a bran creation infused with goji berries, had a lightness and fluffiness that more than met the criterion as the winning muffin.   Congratulations to Andrea, who will receive a $20 Bookstore Gift Card, or two free intern treatments in the YSU Clinic!   Kudos also to Joslyn Williams and Yaneth Moreira of the Enrollment Management Office for facilitating this energy producing community event.
