Matthew has a BA in Art History, which he received from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1998. After moving to New York to carve his way into the art world, he was introduced to “internal martial arts:” Xingyiquan, Baguazhang and Taijiquan. This exposure to a system that encouraged thoughtful self-discipline and cultivation ultimately led him down the path to studying Chinese Medicine. After completing the MATCM program at YSU (class of 2013), Matthew became an herbalist in the clinic’s herbal dispensary, obtained his California acupuncture license, and is presently working as Assistant Academic Dean in the MATCM program. Matthew continues to practice both Xingyiquan and Baguazhang under the tutelage of Master Jacky Yao-Wu Hu,, and maintains a position of “indoor student” with his teacher (a very high honor in Chinese kung fu culture). Matthew can be reached at (310) 577-3000 ext 117, or by email at matcm@yosan.edu
