| Yo San University founders, Daoshing Ni and Maoshing Ni established their own private practice, the Tao of Wellness, in Santa Monica in 1985. It has since become world renowned. (Visit www.taoofwellness.com)
In January 2006, they expanded their commitment to transmitting the ancient secrets of Chinese medicine to future generations of healers by establishing "The Tao of Wellness Fellowship," a post-graduate residency program, open to outstanding graduates of Yo San University's Master's Program. 2005 Yo San graduate, Jessica Chen, is the first recipient. Below is an article reprinted from the Tao of Wellness' Winter 2006 Newsletter.
Jessica Chen LAc, Dipl OM
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Jessica Chen to the Tao of Wellness. After 4 rounds of grueling interviews and tests, Ms. Chen was selected out of 12 candidates as the finalist for the Tao of Wellness Fellowship. The Fellowship is designed as a postgraduate residency whereby Ms. Chen will be practicing under the direction of Drs. Daoshing and Maoshing Ni in her first year. After successfully completing her residency, she will become a full associate at Tao of Wellness. Ms. Jessica Chen graduated with a Master's degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from Yo San University with highest honors. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Boston University.
Ms. Jessica Chen is a Board Licensed Acupuncturist in California and is also a Nationally Certified Diplomat of Oriental Medicine. She is a member of the California State Oriental Medical Association and holds a Certification for Cosmetic Acupuncture from the Mei Zen Institute.

Won Kim ('05) 10 years of working toward the dream of having a Wellness Center have finally paid off! My wife and I have opened Meridian Wellness Center providing Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Shiatsu Massage. We are so excited that things have come together so smoothly. Patients are experiencing the tranquility of the setting as well as the healing benefits of Chinese Medicine. It is inspiring to see the improved health of patients, confirming yet again the validity of this healing art. Please check out our web site and come by for a visit. We are located at 1150 Yale St., Suite 7, Santa Monica, CA 90403. My office phone is (310) 528-2828 or (310) 828-2168.
Elizabeth Getschal ('04) I moved to Washington, DC in May 2005 and have shifted away from TCM into the business world, translating my love of differential diagnostics to the field of business research analytics. I am currently pursuing an additional degree with concentrations in Ethics and Social/ Public Policy at Georgetown University. In the New Year, I would like to find a venue where I can donate acupuncture services, something along the lines of the Venice Family Clinic or Being Alive, two of my favorite experiences from my time at Yo San. If anyone has leads on opportunities like that in my area, I'd love to hear from you. I can be reached through my web site.
Seva Simran Siri Singh Khalsa ('95) I retired from the post office in April 2004 and moved to New Mexico where there is a large contingent of Sikhs. I am licensed to practice in New Mexico and I live about 30 minutes north of Santa Fe. I could write a book about New Mexico! I thought it was part of the United States. A lot of acupuncturists here but I feel more confident than ever about my skills and more important: just confident. I've found that it is not as much what you know but how you express it and "feel" it. Maybe the most important thing I've learned is the trust between the patient and yourself. Love to all the ex-classmates.
Nicky (Jones) Corbett ('00) I have been practicing at the same location, in Toluca Lake, CA, since 2000. I specialize mostly in fertility and gynecology, but also see a wide range of patients with other conditions. I am married with two little boys, Bodhi 4, and Finley, 2. Being a mom is amazing and both my boys love taking their herbs! Hope everyone is doing well. Keep in touch. |
