Academic Year

Yo San University operates on a 15-week trimester system. Please refer to the Academic Calendar for application deadlines.

  • Fall Trimester - September through mid-December
  • Spring Trimester - January through mid-April
  • Summer Trimester - May through mid-August

Requirements-Domestic and International Applicants

  • A minimum of two years (60 semester/90 quarter units) of college-level study from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum 2.5 GPA

Domestic applicants submit:

  • A completed application form
  • $75 application fee
  • Official transcripts from each school listed on the application
  • Two professional or academic letters of recommendation
  • A 500-word statement of purpose
  • A personal interview with the Director of Admissions
  • A current resume
  • Two passport-sized photographs of the head (to be used for student identification card)

International applicants submit:

  • A completed application form
  • $150 U.S. dollar application fee
  • Official transcripts, evaluated by World Education Services (www.wes.org) to coincide with the US grading system
  • Two letters of professional or academic recommendation
  • A 500-word statement of purpose
  • A personal interview with the Director of Admissions
  • A current resume
  • Official TOEFL scores (minimum score of 500 on the paper test, 173 on the computer test or 61 on the Internet based test)
  • Financial statement
  • Two passport-sized photographs of the head (to be used for student identification card)

Notification of Admission

Applicants will be notified in writing of the Admissions Committee's decision within 30 days of the receipt of the completed application.

Transfer Students

Applicants who have been enrolled at another accredited acupuncture school must follow the same application procedures. Transfer credit is determined on an individual basis, following admission to Yo San University.

Deadlines, Rolling Admissions

Yo San admits new students for the Spring, Summer, and Fall trimesters. Please be sure to submit your applications before our respective deadlines:

  • Spring 2010 Application Deadline: December 15  
  • Summer 2010 Application Deadline: April 15  
  • Fall 2010 Application Deadline: August 15

Campus Tour

We strongly encourage prospective students to come and visit the university, meet faculty and staff, and talk to other students. Interested students are invited to visit classes and experience a treatment in our clinic.

The university is open year-round for tours, but we recommend that you try to schedule your tour for a time when classes are in session, to maximize your experience.
